CHICAGO (BRAIN) — SRAM on Wednesday gave media, manufacturers and retailers the go ahead to publicly release details of the company’s AXS wireless 12-speed component groups, some of which the company says are available immediately at retail.
AXS includes road and mountain components, which are largely interchangeable for those who want dropbar shifters on a mountain bike or mountain bike gearing on a road bike, for example. There is also a new wirelessly activated Rock Shox Reverb dropper post and new Quarq power meter option. All the parts of the system can be configured and customized via a mobile phone app.
SRAM formally introduced the parts to the media at an event in Tucson, Arizona, earlier this year, under condition that the media embargo the information until Wednesday. Several media outlets had previously posted spy shots of the parts in use by pro racers in recent months.
