Team Novo Nordisk’s Mandy Marquardt will represent the United States at the 2018 UCI Track World Championships when it kicks off on Wednesday, February 28th in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands.
The 26-year-old will compete as part of USA Cycling’s 14-athlete team. She will race the sprint, team sprint, and 500-meter time trial events. This serves as her first UCI Track World Championship appearance.
“Mandy has been with our organization since 2010 when she started racing for Team Novo Nordisk’s predecessor, Team Type 1, and we’ve seen amazing growth in her over the years,” said Team Novo Nordisk CEO and Co-Founder Phil Southerland. “I met Mandy for the first time in southern Florida when Mandy was 17 years old, and she was already dreaming of the Olympics. She’s continued to deliver incredible performances, and we are immensely proud that she’s achieved such an enormous milestone. Mandy will be representing the entire diabetes community at the UCI Track World Championships and showing the world what is possible with diabetes. This is all one step closer to a lifelong dream coming true.”
