LAS VEGAS (BRAIN) — In order to meet demand for the growing gravel category, engineers at Hutchinson Tires’ factory in Montargis, France, spent more than two years developing the company’s new Overide gravel tire, which it showed at OutDoor Demo.

The Hutchinson Overide caters to gravel riders and will be available tubeless ready and tube-type in two widths next spring.

Hutchinson’s tubeless-ready Koloss 27.5-plus tire will be available in two tread patterns in a 2.8-inch width. It will retail for $94.99 starting spring 2017.

“It took some time to get the construction down right, but the compound is probably the most advanced on the market right now,” said Roy Hough, general manager at Hutchinson Tire North America.

“And the Overide, our first dedicated gravel tire, is available both tubeless-ready and tube-type so it can be run with a tube or with sealant on any rim that’s the appropriate width.”

The Overide features a diamond tread pattern with lateral knobs for improved grip on corners in mixed terrain, as well as a faster-rolling textured centerline tread for smooth and paved surfaces. It will be available in spring 2017 in 700×35 and 700×38, weighing 350 and 400 grams, respectively.
