@alpainter Hey Mr. Painter, I’ve got tons of questions for you…most related to recovery. Ready?
1. When your quads are wiped out from lots of hard miles, do you dry dock to recover or just dial back but keep riding?
2. Is chocolate milk really a recovery drink? And how much should I drink after a 2 hr ride?
3. What’s the best electolyte plan…[Read more]-
You’re seriously high maintenance. Let me shower up and grab some dinner then get you some prose.
-
1) Hair of the dog. Get on the bike the.next day and ride for about 30-40.mins at a recovery pace.
2) Chicolate milk is good until.you can get home for a solid meal. As long as dairy doesn’t cause inflammation for you, go for it.
3)

3) Nuun for the first hour, then nuun+Hammer Heed in the bottles after that. I’ve used that strategy with pretty good success.
4) I have no idea:
”Its a simple game. YOU THROW THE BALL. YOU HIT THE BALL. YOU CATCH THE BALL!” -
Thanks Al…all the advice that I wanted to hear…so thst must be good.

Well, the answer to #4 is the only one that counts.

How about Tom Boonen winning Flanders then following up with a Paris Roubaix victory? I think that he’s finally silenced critics of his past two-plus lack-luster years. That new QuickStep-PL is rattling some cages.

In reply to: Jack Bulkley posted an update in the group Pro Cycling Paris-Roubaix 2012 seemed another exciting edition but I was disappointed with the MBC Sports coverage. First Tom Boonen is out front but we never get to see […] ViewI just got home from a long trip, so I plan to watch recorded coverage of PR today…but disappointed to hear that NBC Sports is picking up where Versus left off! The worst coverage ”infraction” ever was two years ago when Versus switch from the final 3km of a Tour of California bunch finish to bring us Hockey pre game footage!!!

Do tell! Haven’t heard of this.

30 Days of Biking is an initiative to get people to ride their bikes every day in April. See http://30daysofbiking.com/story/ for the story.
I did not sign up officially, but I will attempt it on my own. Last year Loving the Bike and Bicycle Rado had teams and completed against each other. I would love to have a VR team next year and challenge…[Read more]

I might endeavor to do this, too. Even if the weather is crappy one day, I think I could endure a simple ride to the store on my mtb.
For next year, a VR team sounds like a great idea!

In reply to: rockclimber posted an update Trek launched a new bike today, the only way that I can discribe it is as full suspention road bike. Check it out. ViewCX bikes with pavement tires are becoming very popular. I’ve got one and love it. From the pics and article, here’s what I think is happening. Trek is trying to reach the growing number of roadies who want a smoother, safer ride that allows for mor options (pavement, trail, gravel, dirt).
My observations:
1) cool looking bike.
2) seat supension…[Read more] -

In reply to: JustAnotherCyclist posted an update Hey – what happened to Team Type 1? Well, here are that Amgen teams for this year. ViewAt first glance, this looks like a very good field. SKY missing could only mean that they are aiming their efforts at the Giro. I’m expecting the announced teams will bring their US GC contenders: Horner, Levi, TJ, DZ. I’m wondering if BMC will offer up a Cadel sighting for us? Does anyone know anything about the Columbian team?
