    I’ve never busted out the calipers to measure this, but it seems to be spot on. I usually just do it by feel.

    In race situations we use a gapping tool for spare wheels. This tool is usually a pair of fork or frame dropouts that get the QR spaced to approximately the right distance before changing a wheel. By doing that, it sets the wheel up so there’s only a minor twist or turn, here or there, to get the tension exactly right.

    And yes, I do file my “lawyer tabs” off… except on my fixed gear bikes.
