MORGAN HILL, Calif. (BRAIN) — Specialized is recalling about 1,000 Modely year 2016 Venge ViAS Rim frames because the rear wheel can come out of the dropout.
Consumers are being told to immediately stop using the bikes and return them to a Specialized dealer for a free installation of a new rear derailleur hanger.
Consumer can contact Specialized Rider Care at 1-800-722-4423 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. PST Monday through Friday; or visit www.specialized.com.
The recall involves frames sold as complete bicycles with S-Works (MSRP $12,900) and Pro builds (MSRP $8,200), or as S-Works modules (MSRP $6,200).
Specialized has received seven reports of fractures in the rear triangle from riders in the United States. One of the reports involved a minor injury when the rider could not unclip from his pedals.
The bikes were sold from July 2015 through September 21, 2016. They were manufactured in China and imported by Specialized.
