BTI donation jumpstarts new Santa Fe trail system

SANTA FE, N.M. (BRAIN) — Bicycle Technologies International has donated $2,000 in proceeds from cycling events held this spring to benefit the Grand Unified Trail System, or GUTS plan.

The vision of the GUTS initiative is a trail system that forms a loop around the city of Santa Fe, with connections to the city’s core. Under the plan, non-motorized users will have access to natural and paved surface trails that connect a variety of existing trails in Santa Fe. The first section of new trail developed through the GUTS initiative will be completed this summer, tying the Santa Fe Community College into broader trail systems. The steering committee for GUTS includes an array of, local businesses, non-profit organizations trail advocates, and local, state, and federal government partners.

The funds were generated by BTI during the 3rd annual Outside Bike and Brew Festival this May, which had over 5,000 attendees. The first event was BTI’s Bicycle Movie Night presented as part of the City of Santa Fe’s Bike to Work Week festivities.
