Coach Harley White Jr. and I met with Program Administrator Shaunda Johnson at the Health Education Council on Friday regarding our pop-up bicycle racing programs for urban youth. Together we are working to doing outreach demonstration races at three different Summer Night Lights programs on three consecutive evenings in August. If we are successful in gaining interest and support we will move forward with the scheduling of four 6 weeks after school programs this fall.

MONEY: It is currently costing me $400 a week to pay the rent and keep the lights on in the scraper factory. I have yet to cover my expenses for July and August but am committed to going full steam through the summer.

BIKES: I have a fleet of about a dozen functional race bikes but it would be great to go into these demo races with about a dozen more. The bikes we are using are hard-tail mountain bikes of all sizes with 26 inch wheels. They do not have to be expensive racing …read more
