New Zealand track racer Alison Shanks shaved nearly 2 seconds off of the women’s 3000m individual pursuit record. As reported by the Southland Times:
Shanks turned in her fastest ever individual pursuit, bettering the time she rode to win the world championships in 2009 and smashing her own New Zealand record with a time of 3:28.475, nearly 2sec better than the previous mark.
