Winter Tires

Since some of our VeloReviews.com members got an early taste of snow, I thought I would mention a good resource for learning about studded bicycle tires.

Check out the studded tires page at Peter White Cycles. It will help you figure out what kind to get. And if your LBS does not carry them, your can always order them from Peter. I haven’t tried them. I only missed 2 or 3 days riding last winter because of snow or ice. It is hard to justify a set for that little use, but one of these years I might do it just for fun.

p.s. Peter White Cycles is also a great resource for information on lights and dynamo hubs although they don’t carry Magic Shine which I like and get from GeoManGear.com.

  • I heard parts of New England got 2 feet of snow! I can’t even imagine that, this early in the season.

However, I suspect that GA will – once again this winter – experience several bouts of snow fall. (We usually don’t, except for parts of North GA – in the mountains.) Just hope none of them shut down everything for a week – like that one bad storm did to us last year.
