Solvang Century ride

Well, we successfully traversed the roads of the Central Coast of California this past weekend and help the Challenged Athletes Foundation in the process.

The vineyards and orchards we rode through were gorgeous! The two BIG mountain climbs, were a bit painful. I think we’re all looking forward to riding in this region again some day soon.

The up and back stuff is something I did last week on a ride I lead. My people got all spread out…and at one point, I thought we dropped someone. (We didn’t.) But I don’t like those heart attacks. So, I’ve asked another person in our group to lead our slower riders. She’s going to be a great co-leader. She’s been riding since the 80’s and has lots of great input on things we can teach our humble group. (Heck, I’m going to learn a few things from her, too!) So grateful for the help. The rides I lead are evening rides which during times of good light only amount to 25 or less miles. I couldn’t imagine doing that for 55. Sounds like you need a ride to recover from the ride!
